No. Public summer skiing on Zermatt's Theodul Glacier was suspended on 31 July 2026 because of persistent high temperatures, no overnight cooling, repeated thunderstorms and changed glacier conditions. There is no firm reopening date, and only Swiss-Ski teams keep limited training use. Zermatt is still widely sold as a 365-day ski resort, but for now treat July and August skiing as unavailable and plan the summer around guided high trails, glacier walks and the wildflower hours instead.

Zermatt is car-free, so the private transfer ends at Täsch and the last stage is by train, with electric vehicles inside the village. This keeps the village quiet, but it changes luggage logistics and arrival timing, and makes the chalet's position relative to the lift matter far more. In deep winter, Zermatt is the wrong fit for a party split between skiers and non-skiers, because the village's alternatives are limited. St. Moritz suits mixed parties better, and Lake Geneva better still. Zermatt also can't promise the Matterhorn: the peak is cloud-covered for long stretches, and a week can pass without the view the chalet was chosen for. It is equally unsuited to anyone who wants to drive to the door.

For skiing, December and March are Zermatt's reliable weeks. Winter runs 1 November 2026 to 3 May 2027, though Sunnegga/Rothorn and Gornergrat open on 28 November 2026 and close earlier, on 11 and 18 April 2027. For walking, summer hiking runs June to September. Trails above 2,000 m are generally clear by July, and routes above 2,500 m open from late June to mid-July. Summer glacier skiing is suspended, so plan July and August around the peaks.
